Synopsis
Une gare de province en République Tchèque. Sur le quai, un jeune-homme allongé sur un banc regarde les voyageurs, les trains. Il aperçoit son supérieur et repart au travail. Dans les toilettes, cet agent d’entretien échappent à la fadeur de sa vie ordinaire sous l’emprise d’un détergent utilisé pour effacer les graffiti.
On the platform of a train station in a provincial part of the Czech republic, a young man is lying on a bench watching the movement of the travellers, the workers and the trains. All of a sudden he catches sight of his superior. In the toilets, he finds a way of escaping the mundane routine of his life with the use of a chemical detergent used to erase graffiti.
Intention
Film de commande pour «an European film project with all members of the New Europe». Ce projet fut l’occasion de se confronter à des différences culturelles, et à des conceptions éloignées du cinéma, de ce que peut être un film. Le film réalisé a un format de court-métrage et est plus narratif que mes précédentes pièces. Demeure tout de même une résistance plastique à la fiction comme illusion de reconstitution du réel pour y préférer une vraisemblance (son irréaliste, montage syncopé).
This is a commissioned film for a “European film project with all the members of the new Europe”. This project offered the opportunity of confronting oneself to different cultural and cinematographic points of view. Scrubbing is a more narrative short film than my previous pieces; still, it presents a plastic resistance to fiction as an illusion of recreation of reality, preferring to it likelihood (unrealistic soundtrack, syncopated montage).
